Painting has allowed me shift the emphasis of my work toward my imagination.
My preference is large, semi abstract figurative works; poses, gestures and faces providing an endless artistic challenge. Large brushes, fast strokes, impressions without detail attract me; first acrylics, then oils. I don't see any need to pay attention to flesh tones and this is clearly seen in delicious chocolate creams or luscious greens in the gallery.
As I am largely self-trained, I find I can embrace a loose and free no-fear approach. This allows me to take risks and enjoy the excitement of new techniques in my arts practice. Two years ago I discovered the painting knife – what a joy to use as it exposes the unplanned.
My current approach tends toward rich under-blended primary oil colours and dynamic impasto textures. I work from photographs, life or both and am available for commissions. My aim is to fire your visual imagination.
Please enjoy my gallery of paintings.
